Advanced French Part 2

Course Description:

Advanced French Part 2 is a continuation of Advanced French Part 1. Students should have completed coursework up to and including Advanced French Part 1 (or their equivalents) before enrolling in this course. As in Advanced French Part 1, the instruction of Part 2 is entirely in French. Students will consider the notions of identity, family, community, and contemporary life in a Francophone context through literary and cinematic texts, newspaper and magazine readings, and audiovisual resources. Students will reflect and elaborate on these concepts as well as make comparisons to their cultures of origin through written and oral activities. Review of grammatical concepts and the introduction of new vocabulary will prime the student for successful completion of communicative tasks. This course includes auditory comprehension assessments that require students to listen to audio files and to record themselves speaking. For this course, it is essential that students have either a headset equipped with a microphone or access to an internal microphone within their computers.

Make a comparison between a Francophone country and the United States regarding an aspect of contemporary life. Unit 4: Essential Content and Skills Explore the literature and arts of the Francophone world. Identify the elements of a narrative text and analyze a literary passage.
