Medical Terminology (2026-27)

Course Description:

Medical terminology is designed to teach students the language used in medicine and healthcare, grounded in an understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Students build a strong foundation through the study of prefixes, suffixes, and root words and study the structure and origin of common medical terms with a focus on correct pronunciation, spelling, and application of medical terms. Students will take a systematic approach to the systems of the body by learning the basic structure and function of the system as well as medical terms related to pathology, diagnosis, clinical procedures, pharmacology, and abbreviations specific to that system. Students will learn to communicate in medical language and interpret complex medical communications into everyday language.

B8: Copyright and licensing status for any third-party content is appropriately cited and easily found. Not Met Not all resources and materials used in the course are appropriately cited. The text and audio clips are clear as to ownership/citation. A blanket statement of citation would be valuable for the course. Images had no citation found. Standard 4.7 is not met. I do not see where resources and materials used in the course are appropriately cited. For example, the images used at the beginning of each module do not have a citation. My recommendation is to cite all material used within the course. This not only will cite material used from outside your school, but will also provide a model for students to follow when they are asked to cite their work. Other than the text, I don't see any clear citations. For example, there are no citations in the Unit 1 Additional Notes; it would be helpful to students, in addition to meeting this standard, to model proper citations.

Students will need access to headphones or speakers to hear the audio in the course, and they will need access to either the computer’s microphone or a headset with a microphone that will allow them to record their voice for pronunciation quizzes and practice opportunities.
