Exercise Science B
Course Description:
Exercise Science, Semester B, is the second part of a two-semester course. The course begins with an introduction to physical assessment. You will delve into various parameters of fitness measurement and biometric measurement. You will then learn about the importance of client consultation and evaluation. You will explore various training principles as well as exercise techniques and programs. As you progress in the course, you will gain an understanding of various injuries and illnesses. You will become familiar with rehabilitation programs and emergency procedures and protocols. You will explore career opportunities in exercise science and examine skills needed for employment in the exercise and wellness industry. Finally, you will learn about workplace safety and the legal aspects related to the exercise and wellness industry. This course consists of 14 lessons organized into four units, four Unit Activities, and four Discussions. Additionally, there is one Course Activity and one Course Project. Each lesson contains one or more Lesson Activities. You will grade your work in the Lesson Activities by comparing it to sample responses. You will submit the Unit Activities, Course Activity, and Course Project to your teacher for grading.

To be successful in our program, it is important for the student to remain in constant communication with the online instructor. The online instructor will be communicating with the student 1-2 times per week. Communication between the student and online instructor will be phone, email, texting, Zoom Meeting and/or discussion boards. Online instructors provide families with their weekly office hours and My Virtual Academy is open Monday – Thursday from 8 AM – 8 PM, Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM and Saturday from 8 AM – 2 PM with staff available to answer questions/concerns. Messages received after hours will be returned the next school day. Parents/Guardians/Students will have access to the curriculum and grade book 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
