Course Description:

tudents will read closely to determine what the text explicitly says using key details,

make inferences, draw conclusions, determine central ideas, summarize and analyze.

Students will interpret words/phrases used in text, assess point of view, integrate/evaluate

content in diverse media and formats, delineate and evaluate

claims/validity/relevance/sufficiency of evidence in text, analyze themes/topics and

read/comprehend text independently and proficiently. This will be accomplished with

various stories/passages through weekly thematic activities/assignments/assessments that

are submitted for grading.

To be successful in our program, it is important for the student to remain in constant communication with the online instructor. The online instructor will be communicating with the student 1-2 times per week. Communication between the student and online instructor will be phone, email, texting, Zoom Meeting and/or discussion boards. Online instructors provide families with their weekly office hours and My Virtual Academy is open Monday – Thursday from 8 AM – 8 PM, Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM and Saturday from 8 AM – 2 PM with staff available to answer questions/concerns. Messages received after hours will be returned the next school day. Parents/Guardians/Students will have access to the curriculum and grade book 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

My Virtual Academy Tech Support is available Monday - Thursday, 8 AM - 8 PM, Friday 8 AM - 4 PM, and Saturday 8 AM - 2PM.
